ANYFORTY & TOM MAC 'DUO DE LA MUERTE'

One of our personal favourite brands Anyforty have released a highly exclusive t-shirt and hoody designed by in-house artist Tom Mac just in time for Halloween.  'Duo De La Muerte' pays homage to the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration, and is strictly limited to 100 pieces; and judging by the popularity of previous designs we've had by Tom Mac, this will go fast, so don't sleep on it!

ADDICT X MARVEL ARTIST SERIES

Since they were created via the medium of comic books several decades ago, superheroes have barely left the spotlight, particularly in recent years with a succession of Hollywood blockbusters.  It must have been a good moment for the guys at Addict therefore, when they acquired the rights to superhero comic book giants Marvel.  Following the creative and commercial success of previous collections with Lucas Films and Disney, Addict are definitely the right brand to take on the mighty Marvel.

As well as a mainline collection with traditional style representations of the various characters along with a few cut & sew pieces, Addict have teamed up with illustrators Mitch, Shogun, and Alex "Odisy" Young to create an artist series.  All three artists are big Marvel fans, and their various interpretations of classic characters including Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, Spiderman, The Hulk and The Thing make fantastic visually striking t-shirt prints.

We've had all six of the designs in this week, be sure to check the website for alternate colourways.

TECHNO MUSIC PICKS #3

Lux Rec presents the second appearance of Echo 106 on the label.  Double 12" EP outfit with a gatefold sleeve.

The "Yes, I'm Elastic" EP is the latest coup from Brooklyn-based artist Physical Therapy. Expertly fusing gritty analog techno with playful, eccentric quirkiness and tweaked out samples of the artists own voice, the release marks Physical Therapy`s first release on Fifth Wall.

Egyptrixx gives a glimpse into his forthcoming second album on Night Slugs with the vinyl-only cut "Water (Reduced)".

HOUSE WEEKLY PICKS #3

Oslo producer Anders Wasserfall produces some more deep dream-like electronic music with his 'Travelling While Sleeping' EP.

Felix Lenferink; one of the many aliases of the prolific Steve Mensink follows the success of his Forlane EP, with Forlane II, featuring more fresh broken drum rhythms and lush harmonics.

A little trip into the New York and Jersey House realms. Here the House Ala Carte project of Jovonn restored and available again, a release which may not be representative for the majority of Jovonn`s work, but in our eyes probably one of the most unique releases he did. Originally released on Project X records in 1993.

BRIXTON HOLIDAY VIDEO

Brixton consistently produces creative and well-executed lookbooks and videos each season, and Winter '13 is no different.  The video harks back to the 60's and 70's golden age of Western movies, featuring three Brixton-clad 'cowboys' in a stand-off with one another in the desert.   The short film is beautifully shot, using filters and crackling effects to emulate the cinematography of the era, a retro feel enhanced further by the smoking of thick cigars, and a fitting soundtrack.

The new Brixton Winter collection has just gone on site, and includes both shirts, the waistcoat and the wide-brimmed fedora hat that feature in the video, as well as a wide range of other products.

Accessories are covered by Herschel, with the 'Little America' backpack in a seasonably appropriate rust colour, and HUF's 'Domestic' beanie.  Throw in a 'Mini Maglite' torch from Carhartt, and fill your Analog 'Contraband' flask with something to keep you warm, and you're reading to brave the great wintry outdoors.

KAWS @ PAFA (Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts)

Those of you who haven't come across New Jersey artist KAWS before, will at least recognise the iconic pop culture characters he transforms into playful works of art; with a portfolio that includes reworks of Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob Squarepants, and The Simpsons (pictured) to name a few.

Starting his career as a graffiti artist, KAWS gained huge populatiry by subverting advertisements on billboards etc. in New York.  He then started to design and produce limited edition vinyl toys, which lead to a toy and clothing collaboration with Original Fake.  Since then KAWS has participated in a number of high profile collaborations including with Nigo for A Bathing Ape, Jun "Junio" Takhashi for Undercover, Michael "Mic" Neumann for Kung Faux, snowboard projects with Burton, and trainers with Nike and Vans.

This weekend saw the opening of his highly anticipated exhibition at the Pennsylvania Acadamy of Fine Art, featuring 70 of his paintings and sculptures, both old and new.  Here's some photos from the show, particularly impressive how he's managed to seamlessly integrate his modern pop culture style pieces into the historic space that is PAFA.  Would be awesome to have first hand experience of this!

HAROSHI PRESENTS 'PAIN'

Tokyo-based artist Haroshi has been resurrecting dead skateboards for years, creating beautifully imaginative wooden sculptures by stacking up colourful decks with impeccable precision.

If any of you live in London, or are going to be there over the next few weeks, we highly recommend dropping by the Stolen Space Gallery to see his first solo exhibition: 'Pain'; which expores the effects of emotional pain, and how it can be a great motivating force in the creation of art.

LOOK #1

Carhartt are true veterans of camo print, so its hardly surprising how seamlessly they've managed to integrate this seasonal trend into their AW13 collection.  The 'Military' shirt in Camo Isle Rigid is a key piece in the collection, constructed in heavyweight cotton, with button down shoulder epaulettes.  Layer with the insanely warm and water repellent 'Mentor' jacket, featuring a teddy-bear-soft contrast faux-fur lining to the body, with padded sleeves.  Complete the look with seasonal carry-over jeans 'Klondike, roomy and water repellent backpack 'Files', lifted by a colour-pop 'Britt' beanie.
